Galvanized steel wire rope is also called aviation steel wire rope. The single wire of galvanized steel wire rope has a specified zinc layer weight. The twisting of galvanized steel wire rope is the same as that of ordinary round strand steel wire rope, but according to the working conditions of the steel wire rope, there are different requirements for the zinc layer thickness of the raw steel wire: the special and I galvanized steel wire rope wire with a diameter of 0.2 to 5.0 mm can be divided into 3 types of coating thickness:
The zinc coating amount of the thin coating group is 15 to 135 g/m2, which is used for mild corrosion conditions;
The zinc coating amount of the medium coating group is 60 to 200 g/m2, which is used for medium corrosion conditions;
The zinc coating amount of the thick galvanized group is 75 to 260 g/m2, which is used for severe corrosion conditions;

To ensure the quality of the steel wire rope, the surface of the steel wire zinc coating should be smooth, complete, uniform and firm. When the galvanized steel wire is spirally wound on a core rod with a diameter of 5 or 10 times the diameter of the steel wire, the zinc layer should not fall off or crack. The corrosion resistance of the galvanized layer should also be tested accordingly.

Galvanized steel wire ropes are divided into two types: electrogalvanized (cold galvanized) steel wire ropes and hot-dip steel wire ropes.
There is an essential difference between hot-dip galvanizing and cold galvanizing in terms of process. Hot-dip galvanizing relies on physical thermal diffusion to form a coating, first forming an iron-zinc compound, and then forming a pure zinc layer on the surface of the iron-zinc compound. The maximum zinc content on hot-dip galvanizing is only 593g/m2. Hot-dip galvanizing will reduce the mechanical properties of the steel wire. Galvanized steel wire ropes with high strength and high corrosion resistance are mostly twisted with electrogalvanized steel wire. Hot-dip galvanizing is zinc plating in molten zinc liquid at 450-480 degrees.
