Iron Wire 2mm 5mm galvanized wire rust prevention package cold drawn wire
Product Description
Electro galvanized wire, also called cold galvanized wire, is a kind of galvanized wire by using electro galvanizing process. Electro galvanization is a process to apply a layer of zinc to steel wire by electroplating. The zinc layer is thinner than that of hot-dipped GI wires. It has features like strong flexibility, great plasticity, good corrosion resistance, etc. The making process is shown below:

Steel rod coil (Low carbon steel)- pre-treatment – wire drawing – annealing – pickling – rust removing – cold galvanizing – wire coiling – quality control – packaging for sale

Characteristics of cold galvanized wire

Galvanized wire is widely used in construction, handicrafts, wire mesh, packaging, daily use and other fields.

1. Low cost.  Compared with hot-dip galvanized wire, the production cost of cold-dip galvanized wire is much lower.  So its price is also relatively cheap.

2. The appearance is bright and smooth.  Electro-galvanizing coats a thin layer of zinc to make the surface smooth and shiny, silvery white with a slight yellow tinge.  Its decorative properties make it popular among consumers.

3. Good corrosion resistance.  The zinc layer will form a dense zinc carbonate film on the surface of the wire, effectively protecting the interior from corrosion.  Therefore it has good anti-rust properties.

4. The coating is relatively pure and strong.  The pure zinc layer has no pores, corrodes slowly in acid, alkali and other mist, and can effectively protect the steel matrix.

5. Excellent ductility.  It can be formed by cold stamping, rolling, bending, etc. without damaging the coating.

Uses of electroplated galvanized steel wire

The corrosion resistance of cold-dip galvanized wire is not as good as that of hot-dip galvanized wire.  Therefore it is not recommended for use in corrosive environments.  However, due to its affordable price and smooth surface, it is also widely used in construction, decoration, industry, breeding, barrier isolation and other fields.  Generally, cold-dip galvanized wire is suitable for making wire mesh, fences, wire ropes, wire ropes, hangers, filter baskets, barbed wire, tie ropes, etc.
